VISKY

Interact with weather data

screen shot

What is it?

Visky (pronounced v-i-sky) is an application for interactive display of weather data. The current focus is on viewing data relevant to the deployment of mobile radars.

Visky is written in Tcl, a free open source scripting language. It also requires the Tkgeomap library, which extends Tcl for geography applications. You do not need to know Tcl to use the application. Visky's features are provided in Tcl packages, which are blocks of code that load and display certain data with menus and buttons for interacting with it. Currently, there are packages for tracking hurricanes, drawing dual doppler lobes and radar range rings, browsing information about U.S. airports, and locating NexRad radar sites. Packages are selected with a parameter file or from menus as described in the packages section.

Visky was (is being) written by Gordon Carrie. It is distributed under the MIT License. Please send feedback to tkgeomap at users.sourceforge.net.
